Political leaders and CEOs will discuss how to build clean, electrified economies and advance the global transition away from fossil fuels at the Global Energy Transition and Electrification Summit on 23 June, as part of London Climate Action Week.
The session will include contributions from, André Corrêa do Lago (COP30 President), Dan Jørgensen (EU Energy Commissioner), Irene Vélez Torres (Colombian Minister of Environment and Sustainable Development) Djojohadikusumo Hashim (Indonesian Presidential Special Envoy for Climate and Energy), Francesco La Camera (Director General IRENA), and business leaders from Siemens, Hitachi, Schneider, Volvo Cars, EDF, LinkedIn, ARUP, National Grid and Acciona.
The unprecedented fossil fuel crisis sparked by conflict in the Middle East has galvanised governments and businesses to rapidly accelerate the shift away from volatile fossil fuels and towards clean energy systems as strategic imperatives for economic security, prosperity, and affordability. This summit will be an opportunity to discuss the outcomes of the Santa Marta Conference on Transitioning Away from Fossil Fuels and take stock of progress on the COP30 Presidency roadmap on fossil fuels.
A central solution emerging from this period of geopolitical instability and energy price shocks is to electrify everything based on renewables as fast as possible. As the COP31 Presidency puts electrification front and centre, this summit will be a pivotal moment to consolidate the flourishing collaboration between governments and business to deliver the policies and investments to fully electrify economies so that they are strong and resilient. This summit will also address the importance of international finance and support so that all countries are able to catalyse an equitable energy transition.
This invite-only event at Mansion House is co-hosted by the UK government, E3G, the Global Renewables Alliance (GRA) and We Mean Business Coalition (WMBC), in partnership with Constructive, Energy Efficiency Movement, Mission Possible Partnership and Solar Impulse Foundation. Mansion House will be the focal point for high-level dialogue and diplomatic engagement all day with, as well as the Energy Summit and evening reception, the State of Climate Politics, a summit on methane, and a meeting of the Energy Transition Council and Global Clean Power Alliance.
The Global Renewables Alliance (GRA) is a global alliance of renewable energy industry associations. It works with governments, industry, investors and other stakeholders to advance the policies, partnerships and investment needed to accelerate renewable energy deployment in line with the global 3xRenewables target to deliver secure, competitive and resilient energy systems.
Founded by the Global Wind Energy Council, the Global Solar Council, the Green Hydrogen Organisation, the International Geothermal Association, the International Hydropower Association, and the Long Duration Energy Storage Council, GRA provides a unified voice across wind, solar, hydropower, geothermal, green hydrogen, energy storage and grids.
