Industrial electrification will be critical to driving sustained demand for clean electricity. At the same time, green hydrogen and Power-to-X (PtX) value chains are pivotal to the transition of heavy industry and transportation sectors that cannot be directly electrified such as shipping, steel and fertilisers. There is an urgent need to increase the demand for green hydrogen and its derivatives such as green ammonia and green methanol. The production of green hydrogen from electricity is power-intensive and underscores the urgent need to scale cheap and abundant renewable energy.
