Jobs, Growth, Security

Renewables are not just the energy of the future. They are the jobs, growth, and security of today.

NYC: Jobs, Growth, Security

Alongside the UN General Assembly and Climate Week NYC, a coalition of private sector organisations and leading companies updated the global narrative:

Renewables are not just the energy of the future. They are the jobs, growth, and security of today.

The message echoed across New York and beyond. At the Global Renewables Summit, President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen stated:

“The energy transition has truly taken off. […] Clean energy is not only about addressing climate change. It is, in my view, also about energy security and about prosperity.”

London: Global business statement

Ahead of the UK/IEA Energy Security Summit 2025, 145 private sector organisations called on governments to anchor renewables, efficiency, storage and grids at the core of national energy plans and policies. These solutions deliver benefits far beyond emissions reductions. They are the bedrock of a secure, competitive and affordable future.

The statement outlines key priorities for governments to integrate into their national climate plans (NDCs) and energy policies, emphasising the need to:

  • Remove barriers to corporate clean energy procurement
  • Scale and optimise energy infrastructure, including energy efficiency, storage, demand response, and strategic grid upgrades
  • Build resilient clean energy supply chains
  • Invest in a future-ready workforce
  • Realign incentives, such as repurposing fossil fuel subsidies
  • Expand clean energy access to underserved regions

Korea: Renewables for a secure future

In the lead-up to the Clean Energy Ministerial in Busan, the Global Renewables Alliance and Climate Group shared a unified message with Korean leadership: renewables are the foundation of Korea’s competitiveness, security and resilience.

The case is undeniable:

  • 76% of Korean business leaders support fossil-free power by 2035
  • 3 million Korean jobs could be unlocked by 2050 with the renewable energy transition
  • ₩22 trillion was lost to fossil gas price spikes in 2022

Accelerating renewable deployment is the key to energy security — to cut costs, protect businesses from price shocks, and build a competitive and resilient economy.

Our open letter urges the Republic of Korea to raise national ambition and fast-track renewable energy at scale, positioning itself as a regional leader in renewable electricity.
